BIG Olympics
This June, members of the Brain Inflammation Group swapped lab coats for their sports day finest and took part in our annual BIG Olympics! The afternoon brought everyone together for some friendly competition, lab bonding, and plenty of laughs.
The events featured a mix of science-themed challenges, including stripette javelin and the brain and spoon race, alongside classic sports day favourites such as tug of war and dodgeball.
Of course, no Olympics would be complete without team names and costumes. This year, each team had to create a name inspired by a material used in the lab. Best team name went to the Eppendwarves, the TC-hooded knights of the round-bottom plate took home the prize for best costume, and the Parafilm Stars had the best entrance. In the end, it was Paul’s Poppers — inspired by fish scales from the ICH zebrafish models used in Dr Paul Kasher’s lab — claimed overall victory on the day.
A huge thank you to Ivy Usansky, who kindly organised the event and kept everything running smoothly as our brilliant ref(rigerator) for the day!
